Chiltern Firehouse is the brain child of Boston Born restaurateur Andre Balazs. Although Balazs is renowned for his properties around America such as ‘The Mercer Hotel’ in New York and Chateau Marmont in Hollywood, Chiltern Firehouse not only declares his first furore into the ‘London Scene’ but perhaps his first truly rustic development.
The Firehouse which was previously known as Marley bone firehouse and opened in 1889 now boasts 26 suits and a 200 seated restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The history and feel of this 1889 London firehouse is still present as the huge fire station doors remain adding to the rustic and gothic feel.
The Restaurant is headed by the exciting Lisbon born Michelin Starred chef Niño Mendes. Mendes’ background tells you all you need to know about the food at Chiltern, Trained in the 1990’s at the ‘California Culinary Academy’ he apprenticed under the infamous and American culinary legend, Wolfgang Puck amongst others. He then travelled across Asia working under several Michelin Starred Chefs before coming to London. These varied concepts are prevalent in his menus, dishes and even the way he manages his Kitchen. The menu is exciting and consists of a American, British and Japanese fusion food adding to the wonder and excitement of this award winning Michelin Starred Hotel.
